Résumé

Flammability risk of hydrocarbon refrigerants in refrigeration and air considering systems has only been addressed to a limited extent for refrigerant handling activates during service and maintenance of systems to such an extent. This study investigates these stages in detail. Typical procedures are broken down into discrete tasks: preparation of the working area, confirmation of correct tools, initial system checks, accessing the system, removing refrigerant, breaking into the system, carrying out repair, sealing the system, charging the system, strength pressure checking, closing the system, leak tightness checking and final system checks. Throughout, errors may arise due to use of incorrect equipment/tools and deviation from instructions. Event tree analysis is used to identify the combinations of sequence of events that may lead to a release of refrigerant and an active source of ignition that could result in ignition and eventually the probability of ignition and severity of consequences.
