Résumé

Carbon dioxide is the safest natural refrigerant preferred in many applications in the commercial refrigeration, food industry and transportation. Cycles operating with CO2 have lower efficiency than when NH3 or other HFC refrigerants are used.
The present work, based on the exergetic analysis, gives a clear picture of the magnitude of the destructions related to each piece of equipment and process enabling in this way to take decisions for improvement. A schematic where the destructive effect of throttling is diminished by the use of an ejector is analyzed. A comparative analysis between the cycle using throttling only and the one provided with an added ejector, is presented. The paper discusses the efficiency of the ejector as a piece of equipment alone or as an integrated part of the refrigerating system from different points of view.
