Résumé

The application of CO2 as a refrigerant in cooling and refrigeration systems has become a well-established solution in specific domains driven by the decarbonization agenda. The performance of CO2 systems and the methods to improve energy efficiency are studied comprehensively. However, the application of CO2 in heat pumps and heat recovery systems is relatively less explored in detail. The decarbonization of the heating sector combined with strict f-gas phase downs in the EU facilitates the application of CO2 for specific heating applications. This paper investigates these applications and the best methods and control strategies to achieve optimum efficiency. Heat recovery from commercial refrigeration processes and heat pump integration into district heating applications are two of the system solutions discussed in this paper.
