Résumé

Reports on the application of adsorption refrigeration plant put into operation in 1995 in Kassel, powered by heat from the district heating network. The plant uses water as a refrigerant and silica gel as an absorbent and permits the use of heat as low as 50 deg C. Notes the aim is to develop a cooling supply of 10 megawatts over the next 10 years to customers in the district heating supply area who have air conditioning requirement. Identifies the main opportunities as large department stores, service and administration buildings and hospitals.
