Résumé

For effective use of low temperature waste heat and solar thermal energy, sodium acetate trihydrate (SAT)- based phase change materials (PCMs) were prepared. Cationic surfactants were added to SAT to prevent its supercooling phenomenon. Differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) measurements revealed that the supercooling degree of SAT can be reduced to less than 10 °C by the surfactants. Heat storage and release characteristics of the PCM were investigated with a heat storage tank containing hot water and the PCM packaged into aluminium-laminated resin bags. The PCM stored and released its sensible and latent heat in temperature range between 50 °C and 70 °C. The amount of heat storage and release by the PCM was more than 300 MJ×m-3. That was more than 3.5 times higher than that by water with the same volume in the same temperature range.
