Comparaison expérimentale du CO2 et de mélanges alternatifs CO2/R1270 dans une installation frigorifique transcritique. Évaluation de l’énergie dans une application à température moyenne.

Experimental comparison of CO2 and alternative CO2/R1270 mixtures in a transcritical refrigerating plant. Energy evaluation in an MT application.

Résumé

The movement to more climate-friendly refrigerants has positioned Carbon Dioxide (CO2) as one of the most demanded refrigerants due to its environmental friendliness (null ODP, ultra-low GWP, no recycling issues), safe operation (non-toxicity, non-flammability), and other advantages related with high-availability and heat transfer. However, CO2 is affected by its low critical temperature (30.98°C), leading complex refrigeration systems to enhance the refrigeration plant’s performance, especially at high temperatures. Mixing CO2 with other natural fluids, such as propylene (R1270), increases the critical temperature, improving the cycle’s performance. Accordingly, the present work experimentally analyses three mixtures of CO2/R1270 (91/9 %mass, 94/6 %mass, and 97/3 %mass) in a wide range of heat rejection temperatures from 20 to 34°C. The results obtained for a medium-temperature refrigeration level showed COP improvements of up to 12.18% and a decrease in heat rejection pressure of -14.94 bar at 34°C of heat rejection temperature.
