Compresseurs au CO2 pour les systèmes utilisés dans le froid commercial.

CO2 compressors for commercial refrigeration systems.

Auteurs : PISANO G.

Résumé

Carbon dioxide has been commonly used in shipboard refrigeration during the beginning of the twentieth century. However, the high pressure involved made it easy to abandon this natural fluid preferring the use of synthetic refrigerants. Nevertheless, the latter progressive restrictions related to ozone depleting substances (Montreal, 1987) and global warming substances (Kyoto, 1999) made CO2 technology to gain renewed interest, also thanks to the development of high-pressure suitable components, including compressors. This work starts with a description of the main challenges that are to be faced when approaching CO2 compressor design; particular mention is made about the principal compressor-related guidelines that shall be taken into account when dealing with carbon dioxide. Finally, some possible system solutions are mentioned in relation to the commercial refrigeration market.
