Conception d’une pompe à chaleur au CO2 conforme aux exigences européennes en matière d’écoconception : défis et solutions.

Designing a CO2 heat pump satisfying the Ecodesign requirements: challenges and solutions.

Résumé

The natural refrigerant CO2 is increasingly being integrated into heating applications. The SmartCO2 Heat Pump project, mentioned in this article, aims at designing a CO2 heat pump in the capacity range 20 kW to 200 kW, for which it is required to comply with the ecodesign requirements. At a minimum, heat pumps are required to meet a threshold level for seasonal efficiency, which is measurable by standardized tests. However, those tests are not thought to be suitable for refrigerants with a glide such as transcritical CO2. This paper describes the challenges for a CO2 heat pump to satisfy the ecodesign requirements and the solutions proposed to overcome them by optimizing both component design and cycle layout. New temperature levels, based on the same heating system performance, are suggested for the test. The calculations are validated with measurements.
