Résumé

Two kinds of heat pipes have been discussed in the paper: the gravitational one and the one with a wick. The wide range of applications has been emphasized: from cryogenics up to 2000°C along with the appropriate working fluids. The design and structure of the wick have been described. The control of heat capacity of the heat pipe by means of inert gas, overload of liquid refrigerant or by application of the throttling valve have been discussed. Exemplary thermal characteristics of heat pipes of the exemplary manufacturer as well as the principles of the choice of heat pipe have been presented.
