Résumé

An adsorption ice-making system is designed. The system uses solidified activated carbon-methanol pair and the influence of mass transfer channels on the performance of the system are fully taken into account in the design. Comparing the adsorption performance of the adsorber 1 (solidified adsorbent bed) with adsorber 3 (granular adsorbent bed), the performance of this ice-making system is predicted. The simulation of this system is completed and it shows that the optimum cycle time of this system is about 35 min. The initial experiments of this new designed system show that the evaporating temperature can be as low as about -15°C, and the optimum ice production of this new designed prototype is about 20 kg/h.
