Résumé

Pipelines and supply networks for datacom services often run through remote areas such as deserts, which are far removed from conventional power lines. Therefore, communication along the pipeline or between networks necessitates telecom repeaters or relay stations in remote locations. The daily air temperatures can reach 122°F (50°C) in high ambient desert environments, which combined with internal heat generation from the electronic equipment, make the inside of the telecom shelter prone to temperatures as high as 176°F (80°C). In these conditions, electronic equipment will not function reliably. This presents a significant challenge to the HVAC system designer.
