Résumé

This article reports on how a UK services consultant has designed a cooling system for a major government building that will be cooled by a mixture of ice crystals and water slush that will be pumped round the building. Lower volumes of coolant are needed so pipe sizes can be reduced by 60%, also reducing the amount of insulation and duct space required. Pumps costs are reduced because the slush is easier to pump than fluids. Notes two other water-based coolant systems based on boreholes, one for seawater and one for groundwater.
