Critères de sélection pour les cryorefroidisseurs compacts.

Selection criteria for compact cryocoolers.

Résumé

In the past two years Thales Cryogenics extended its cryocooler portfolio with products targeting compact cryogenics systems requiring up to several watts of cooling power at liquid nitrogen temperatures (77 K). All products are designed to withstand stringent environmental requirements and are demonstrating excellent reliability figures. Although our initial products have been developed to cool infra-red sensors the used cooling technologies are finding their way more and more to non-IR applications in military, space, civil and even medical applications.  In this paper Thales Cryogenics will briefly present their latest developments at cooler level and in parallel highlight the differences of the various compact cryocooler technologies for a cold tip temperature between 40 K and 170 K. The ability to reach cryogenic temperatures in a small volume make these products suitable for compact and even portable systems requiring accurate cooling to cryogenic temperatures for a wide variety of applications.  Next to crucial selection parameters to select the correct cooler technology for a specific application special emphasis will be placed on our simulation tooling - further developed in the last two years - for the estimation of the overall cooler performance after integration at system level.
