Détendeur à pulsation pour le CO2.

Impulse expander for CO2.

Auteurs : TØNDELL E.

Résumé

An impulse expander was tested for expansion of CO2. The experimental program covered nozzle performance characterization tests, measurement of turbine shaft torque with blocked turbine shaft and turbine performance measurement. The nozzle performance characterization showed nozzle efficiencies between 40 and 75%. The blocked shaft torque measurements gave torques between 40 and 60% of the optimal torques. The expander performance tests showed a low efficiency, and the turbine did not reach the intended speed. The reason for this is that the turbine design was made with too high wheel diameter, which again caused high frictional losses. Another reason was the bearing losses that are high because grease lubricated bearings are used. The paper presents results from turbine performance testing, and considerations regarding how to optimise an impulse turbine in CO2 expansion.
