Résumé

In collaboration with the Institute of Thermodynamics of the Technical University Braunschweig (Brunswick), FRIGOBLOCK is currently investigating the energy efficiency of alternative refrigerants with a low global warming potential (GWP) such as CO2, propane or propene for use in transport refrigeration machines within the framework of a research project. Due to long operating times, the main contribution of transport refrigeration machines to the total equivalent warming impact (TEWI) originates from their energy consumption. In contrast, the effect of refrigerant leakage on the total equivalent warming impact for example with regard to electrically driven systems is negligible, as it amounts to 5% and less. That is why the use of alternative refrigerants in transport refrigeration equipment can lead to a higher total equivalent warming impact when the energy efficiency is only slightly reduced.
