Résumé

A numerical study is performed for the solution of heat and mass transfer in a single adsorbent particle. Water vapor - Fuji RD silica gel pair was considered for the problem. The single particle is in contact with a narrow rod, which is used to cool or heat the particle, from one or two points. The changes of local adsorption uptake and temperature are determined for adsorption and desorption processes. Additionally, the variations of volume averaged adsorption uptake and temperature with time are obtained. The effect of number of contact points between rod and particle is investigated. The obtained results show that intraparticle mass transfer resistance controls adsorption an desorption processes. The propagation of water vapor in the adsorbent particle is considerably slower than the heat diffusion. Doubling number of rod can improve specific cooling power only by 29% since the mass transfer resistance controls the cycle period.
