Résumé

In order to find out how frost grows on surface of copper tube under different magnetic field intensity, frosting process on surface of copper tube under a week static magnetic field was investigated. The magnetic field was generated by a pair of Helmholtz coils and evenly distributed. The coils were connected to an adjustable direct current electric source. Frost pictures were taken and analysed. Results showed magnetic fields had complex and changeable effect on frost height and frost crystal morphology during the whole frost process. Under different magnetic field intensity, thinner, denser and longer frost crystals formed promotes frost growth, while sturdier, sparser and shorter frost crystals restrained frost growth. Research results could provide a reference for controlling frost by applying magnetic fields.
