Résumé

Loblaws, a major chain of supermarkets in Canada, has taken the initiative to install innovative technologies at its new supermarket in Repentigny, a suburb of Montreal (Quebec). The technologies are designed to reduce energy consumption as well as greenhouse gas emissions, while improving product quality and customer comfort. Undertaken in partnership with Natural Resources Canada's CANMET Energy Technology Centre - Varennes (CETC-Varennes), the project enabled the company to create an environmentally friendly supermarket by installing an efficient refrigeration system, integrated with the building's heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system. This project is the first of its kind in Canada.
