Indoor environment: improving indoor air quality through the addition of olfactory stimulants.

Auteurs : KEMPSKI D. von

Résumé

A crucial factor in the evaluation of indoor air quality is the odor pollution caused by building materials, ventilation systems and human beings. To date, research into improving the perceived air quality has concentrated entirely on developing technical means of reducing the quantity of pollution in the indoor air. However, it has not yet been possible to translate this into corresponding improvements in the dissatisfaction level of the occupants. The science of aromachology has shown, however, that well-being and mood is, to a significant extent, controlled by what can be termed "olfactory comfort".
