Résumé

Evolving regulations on ozone-depleting substances and on climate change continually modify the refrigerating equipment and refrigerants used. Trends in 7 main applications in the refrigeration and air-conditioning fields are analysed. For each application, recent global figures are given, the main refrigerants used and new developments are detailed and comments on energy efficiency are provided. The changes over the last few years are impressive and a broad range of options enabling use of non-ozone-depleting substances is now available.
