Résumé

This paper presents the application of district heating and cooling system in some of the main regions in the world, and points out that increasing cooling needs constitute a new tendency that will threat electricity supply and energy safety. Rational development of district cooling systems can alleviate the risk, and enhance the economic, environmental and energy performance of building energy systems.
