Résumé

R744 is one of the most promising alternatives for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances producing refrigerants in air conditioning/heat pump systems of electric vehicles. However, there is a high exergy destruction with the high-pressure expansion valve in the R744 AC/HP cycle. A two-phase ejector can be used to recover a part of the expansion work from the high-pressure stream to boost and compress the low-pressure refrigerant. The compressor is thereby unloaded. This article uses a thermodynamic analysis to investigate the benefits of using a two-phase ejector in the R744 AC/HP cycle. Three cabin cooling modes, two cabin heating modes, and one fast charging mode have been investigated. The results show that the power demand can decrease by up to 21% depending on the ejector efficiency to provide the same thermal capacities. In addition, the ejector can decrease the discharge temperature by up to 12 K in heating mode.
