Résumé

Door design, particularly for use in public buildings with high level of traffic, has significant effect on energy consumption of buildings for air-conditioning and heating. This paper investigates the effect of door design, such as pivot, sliding and revolving doors, on the amount of energy lost or gained. Experimental work with different case studies using infrared thermography is presented in this paper to show the difference in heat losses for door designs. Energy calculations are used to estimate the energy loss using three different models. The results indicate that infrared thermography play an important role to provide qualitative analysis for heat losses and provide better understanding for the energy performance of doors in public buildings. It has been found that revolving doors could provide a very efficient solution to reduce energy consumption in buildings.
