Résumé

In this paper, numerical simulation and experimental work on fluid and mass transfer phenomena in the eliminator of an air washer system used as air cleaner for electronic parts industry were carried out. The authors measured the Sherwood number with various dimensionless 2a/H parameters, which were represented by a ratio of wave amplitude (a) and the spacing between triangular wavy walls(H), in experiments based on the naphthalene sublimation technique. They employed a low Reynolds-number kappa-epsilon model to simulate a flow field and calculated the absorption of weak electrolytes, NH3, SO2 gas using Eddy-Cell model and Fick's law. They proposed an equation to determine the alpha value of the Eddy-Cell model numerically on the plane channel and applied it to the case of corrugated channels. The qualitative characteristic of gas absorption along the axis of the corrugated channel was such that the gas removal efficiency of the inlet region was greater in both experimental and simulation studies.
