Résumé

This report shows an experimental and theoretical analysis of the boiling-heat-transfer characteristics of carbon dioxide in the post-dryout region, with emphasis on a thermodynamic nonequilibrium phenomenon. It is found that for a high mass flux of 1440 kg/m2s, the measured heat transfer coefficient increases with an increase in vapour quality, which is due to an increase vapour mass flow at higher vapour quality. For low mass fluxes such as 360 and 720 kg/m2s, the heat transfer coefficient decreases slightly with an increase in the vapour quality until the vapour quality becomes unity, and there is no obvious difference between the measured heat transfer coefficients corresponding to these two mass fluxes. This decrease in the heat transfer coefficient is related to a thermodynamic nonequilibrium phenomenon, in which the vapour becomes superheated in order to evaporate liquid droplets suspended in the bulk vapour phase. The prediction method of the post-dryout heat transfer is discussed and a modified correlation is proposed on the basis of the experimental results.
