Résumé

This paper presents a research work on green walls hygrothermal behavior and on their microclimatic impact in urban context. The experimental work is carried out on a green wall system set up on a reduced scale mockup of building rows. These buildings form an urban scene characterized by street canyons. The analysis of the diurnal evolutions of temperature, humidity and heat fluxes through the vegetal coating and on the surrounding air provide a whole comprehension of the hygrothermal effects of this type of vegetated façades coatings on the built and on the surrounding environment. The presented measurement results were performed during summer period in La Rochelle, France. Comparisons with a reference case (a concrete wall with white painted coating) allow for the assessing of the thermal benefit of façade greening.
