Résumé

Computational fluid dynamics with Eulerian-Lagrangian model is used to track the transport of evaporating droplets from a coughing burst in a hospital ward with three different ventilation setups. The simulation results reveal that for both mixing and downward ventilation, the droplets initially less than 100 micro-m tend to be mixed in the ventilated air, but for the displacement ventilation, the small passive droplets show two-zonal distribution and are more quickly transported out of the room, the residues of large droplets in displacement ventilation are subjected to the gravitational force and tend to settle in the lower part of the room. Therefore the displacement ventilation shows weakness in removing larger droplets nuclei. The downward ventilation system is a relatively safer method for health worker in a single patient hospital ward.
