Résumé

The global warming has enhanced the energy reliance worldwide. This makes zero energy buildings (ZEB) an important issue among the international communities. The reliance of fossil energy can largely be reduced by ZEB, which would also eliminate any carbon emission. Taiwan, being one of the members of global village, should actively be involved in this issue. Although there have been many ZEB researches in western world, the direction of research is not on same track in Taiwan, due to subtropical climate being hot and high humidity. Therefore, this study is to propose a suitable locally design strategy of ZEB, basing on local factors. A detached house in Yunlin, located in the southern Taiwan and on the Tropic of Cancer, was selected as the study case. Finally, the strategies together with three design proposals were presented to demonstrate an useful reference for architects, designers, and some other related industries.
