Etude sur un cryorefroidisseur fonctionnant avec un mélange de frigorigènes.

Results of the investigation of a mixed refrigerant cryocooler.

Résumé

In recent years mixed refrigerant cycles (MRC) have found increasing interest also for applications in the field of cryocoolers. MRC cryocoolers offer advantages over Gifford-McMahon and Stirling cycles. This is mainly due to the fact that MRCs do not possess moving parts in the cold section which can possibly lead to unacceptable vibrations at the cold head. Moreover, MRCs have the potential of achieving about the same efficiencies as other competing cryocoolers such as pulse tube coolers while offering the advantage of appreciable lower costs. A mixed refrigerant cryocooler test stand was erected and experiments run with different mixtures. Lowest temperatures ranging from about 65 K to 150 K were preset. The cooling behaviour of different mixtures is compared. At the lower temperature range, Carnot efficiencies comparable or superior to those published in the literature were achieved.
