Résumé

Heat at temperature levels of 110 to 160°C is used in various industrial processes, such as heating, humidification, cleaning, and sterilization. Currently, this heat is generated by fossil fuels or electricity and is often transferred using steam as an energy carrier. This paper presents the simulation and the design of a high temperature heat pump using R718 as a refrigerant with supply temperatures in excess of 150°C. The use of a gas lubricated micro turbo compressor enables oil-free operation. In this way,
the process can be run as a closed cycle or even as an open cycle, further increasing its efficiency. As a heat source, different methods are proposed such as high temperature waste heat or a heat pump cascade configuration where the R718 heat pump is used as the high temperature stage. The proposed cycle will be compared to state of the art solutions.
