Résumé

Appropriate indoor thermal climate in modern office buildings depends on large-scale water-cooling chillers, and it is also main energy consumption terminal in building industry. It is very essential to confirm the chiller operation state, because improper chillers operation condition may cause even more than 30% energy loss compared with optimization condition. However, large-scale commercial chillers are typical non-linear system with series of components and elements, so it is difficult to modelling by physical theory to characterize the operation process especially in dynamic conditions. The paper firstly built up simple analytical model for performance test of chillers normal operation, and then analyzed the chillers dynamic performance transformation after star-up to 10 minutes with realistic field data on the basis of American Refrigeration Institute (ARI) standard 550/590-98 test conditions. Finally, an optimal chiller operation method was brought forward by several performance indices. Observations based on the model and field test data indicated that internal dissipative loss could be small compared with heat loss. Furthermore, the study revealed that COP is far less than normal operation at start-up stage operation because of irreversibility through data fit and regression methods.
