Résumé

Previous work has demonstrated the interest of the energetic evaluation of a secondary water/ethanol loop. Energy consumption of pumps has been effectively calculated and compared to the amount of cold production. It has been shown that depending on the studied case, this part reveals not negligible on the global performance of the system. The influence of the refrigerant loop is now integrated in that model in order to take into account the consumption of the compressor in the energy balance. The corresponding model is depicted in detail in the paper, considering the pressure drops occurring in such systems, the pumping power consumed to transport the secondary fluid and the power required by the refrigeration system. A parametric study has been made considering different levels of temperature and power applications. We also varied the concentrations of ethanol in each case (single or two phases). The study demonstrates that an optimal mass flow rate exists in each case, leading to a maximum global COP of the whole system.
