Résumé

The evolution of the legislation on the energy certification of buildings has extended the assessment of the building-plant system to air conditioning. Consequent is the exigency to select a simplified procedure for a correct evaluation of the seasonal efficiency of the refrigerating machines installed in the HVAC plants. A comparison between the possible alternatives is here presented in the most challenging case which is that one of the machines cooled by outside air. In fact in this case the high variability of the sink temperature deeply influences the performances of the plants. The seasonal efficiency depends not only on the operative thermal levels, but also on the trend of the building demand which causes frequent reductions of the cooling capacity. Actually there is growing awareness of the importance of the behavior of the machine in part load working conditions and of its influence on the seasonal efficiency of the machine. Consequently the introduction or the modification of the calculation procedures to be implemented in the standard. For this aim, the Bin method and monthly-means method have been proposed and thus compared here. Their reliability is verified in reference to the results obtained by the dynamic simulation of building-plant system in some typical case studies. The analysis shows a better precision of the monthly means method. Instead the Bin method appears unable to provide an acceptable assessment in air-conditioning calculations.
