Résumé

The purpose of this study is to evaluate indoor environmental quality and productivity in green buildings. The studied offices were two energy-saving buildings, surveyed before and after relocation of workers from one to the other. The office after relocation, which has a large-open workspace, was designed for high workplace productivity. Field measurements were conducted in the offices to study the indoor environment and workers’ behavior. Concurrently, satisfaction with the indoor environment, ease of behaviors, and self-estimated productivity were investigated by a questionnaire survey. The results confirmed that energy conservation in the offices was high and the indoor environmental quality of the offices was maintained at good levels, as designed. From the results of the survey in 2011, an operative adjustment of the air-conditioning control was carried out in the office after relocation in 2012. The thermal sensation and satisfaction with the thermal environment were improved. Compared to 2011, the satisfaction with comprehensive environment was high in the office after relocation in 2012. The improvement of the indoor environmental quality could raise workplace productivity. Communication was observed to occur not only in designated communication spaces but also around workers’ desks in the office after relocation. The ease of communication was improved by relocation to the new office.
