Résumé

The article describes the formation of 'ice balls', which crush the copper tubes of air coolers and form cavities. These cavities will finally cause the tube to leak. The air cooler block will need replacement. The article further reveals the circumstances under which the ice balls develop. Knowing this, the designer of the installation and the end-user can take measures in order to prevent this formation.
