Résumé

The pressure drop prediction based on empirical formulae and CFD modelling is presented. In the empirical prediction, the CFD model and some empirical models were employed to predict the pressure drop in the cyclone type oil separator, simultaneously. And the Reynolds stress model (RSM) was used to describe the gas phase turbulence because it involves calculation of the individual Reynolds stresses by using differential transport equations. Experiment result shows that the CFD method can give a more accurate prediction than the empirical formulas. Only Castle's empirical pressure drop model can give a good result within 6% relative error compared to the experiment data.
