Résumé

Using free cooling in refrigeration systems for air conditioning of underground mines is presented in this article. Effectiveness and possibility of using different free-cooling systems for central air conditioning in mines are characterized. Central air conditioning in underground mines with cooling power plants on the ground and transporting cooling energy to heat exchangers underground is designed when heat load of mine is more than 4 MW. Systems are based on compressor chillers or absorption chillers in cogeneration systems. Cogeneration systems use waste heat or heat and power obtained from coal bed methane combustion in gas engines. Power-cooling systems are equipped with free-cooling exchangers, too. The principle of using free-cooling in such systems is also discussed in detail. The effectiveness of air-conditioning systems is emphasized as well. The examples of using free-cooling in four central air-conditioning systems of mines are also presented.
