Résumé

Mantles from pearl oysters were cryopreserved then grafted onto the gonads of the host oysters after 14 months of preservation. Nearly half of the grafted mantles were rejected by the host oysters. The capacity of the formation of a pearl layer was observed to be inferior for the cryopreserved mantles as compared with fresh mantles, though no differences were found in the quality of pearls produced from preserved and fresh mantles.
