These proceedings contain 53 presentations and 45 papers exploring the role of HVAC in airborne infectious disease transmission, evaluation of the various design and control strategies and technology, pandemic preparedness, and airborne infection control for various applications such as health care facilities, air and surface transportation, schools, offices. Airborne infection and its control in the built environment pose considerable challenges to mankind that rival the need to also address climate change and environmental sustainability. The conference reviews the state of knowledge about airborne infection in such environments and helps define future directions. Topics were on the following: airborne infection in healthcare facilities; ventilation systems and airborne infection; natural ventilation; CFD and other modelling techniques; UVGI and other air cleaning devices; airborne bacteria and virus; IAQ and energy in healthcare facilities.
