Résumé

The air infiltration rates through a rapid-roll door into a commercial cold store at -18 °C were estimated using a tracer gas decay technique. Air infiltration rate was proportional to fractional open time. A strip curtain reduced infiltration by 92%. Forklift traffic reduced the effectiveness of the strip curtain, but reduced infiltration for an unprotected door. Air tightness (infiltration with door closed) (17% of that for a protected open door) was found to accurately predict the rate of air infiltration.
