Résumé

Regarding a cryoablation for malignant lung tumours, the authors have so far conducted a freeze experiment in vivo in a visible manner and confirmed an organic phenomenon related to a freeze phenomenon. However, the quantitative characteristics of the freeze process (for example, growth of the freezing front changing with time) have not been exactly known in terms of the freezing characteristics. In the past, they conducted a heat conduction analysis by assuming lung cancer freezing. In the freezing process, the freezing front becomes larger with time in a concentric circle centering on the cryoprobe. There is a point where the growth of the freezing front stops although freezing is continued for a long time, which the authors call a limiting radius and succeeded in predicting it theoretically. To confirm the freezing characteristics predicted by the theoretical analysis, they conducted a freezing experiment by needling a cryoprobe into a porcine lung in vivo. Specifically, they observed the time variation in the visible size of the freeze front emerging on the lung surface. As a result, the freezing characteristics became clear and the presence of a limiting radius was revealed. These were consistent with the results of our theoretical calculation. Furthermore, they developed an equation for predicting a limiting radius by the least square method and succeeded in fitting it with observed values in the experiment. With the use of the equation, the authors succeeded in capturing the freezing characteristics and concluded that the initial freezing time of 300 seconds is sufficient to reach the limiting radius in the lung tissue.
