Résumé

This paper looks at several external factors that are likely to influence the decisions taken by designers of industrial refrigeration systems over the next twenty five years. Four factors are considered and in each case they are examined in the light of the three common contexts of increased urbanisation, growing environmental awareness and ever-present pressure on cost. The factors are carbon reduction, automation, globalisation and universality (meaning the rapid transfer and sharing of information and knowledge).
