Résumé

After a brief history of the birth and the development of refrigeration, the author presents past, present and future refrigerants. He focuses on physical properties, along with environmental issues. He also points out the most widely used refrigerants in industrial, commercial, domestic, automotive refrigeration and in air conditioning. He gives his views on the future of halocarbon fluids, hydrocarbons, ammonia and carbon dioxide.
