Résumé

The heat transfer rates of refrigerant evaporators were measured and compared in order to obtain better performance in a given condition which is simulated using real operating conditions of commercial refrigerators in a temperature-controlled chamber. To achieve the operating conditions of very low temperature like -30°C, the experimental facility was newly made up, and refrigerant R-134a was used as the working fluid instead of a single-phase working fluid. Thus, the thermal resistance and temperature profile inside the evaporator would be similar with the actual evaporator in a refrigerator. The working fluid R-134a was circulated by a pump, not a compressor. It improved the reproducibility of the experiment by preventing the effect of compressor oil. The uncertainty of the measurement was within 3%. It was shown that the several types of evaporators are able to be selected, and have better heat transfer rates in spite of relatively low heat transfer areas.
