Résumé

The paper proposes a method used to evaluate the performance of reciprocating compressors. An analytical formula of the volumetric efficiency is presented, based on both theoretical and empirical approaches, and takes into account the most important factors present during operating of the compressor. An accurate determination of the clearance volume of the compressor and a good knowledge of the temperature of the suction gas in the cylinder are required to achieve good agreement between calculated and experimental results. The simulation of the capacity of the compression work under various operating conditions can give a good idea of the compressor performance.
