Méthodes expérimentales pour la quantification de la charge de givre sur les évaporateurs utilisés dans le froid commercial (ASHRAE RP-1831).
Experimental methods for frost load quantification on evaporators used in commercial refrigeration (ASHRAE RP-1831).
Résumé
The paper introduces an experimental approach to identify suitable methods based on measured and derived parameters for estimating the amount of frost accumulated on evaporator coils used in low temperature refrigeration applications. The aim is to determine the most reliable approach for indicating the magnitude of a frost load accumulated on a round-tube-plate-fin heat exchanger used for commercial refrigeration, in this case a unit cooler of a walk-in freezer. The approach needs to be compatible with the typical test configurations used for walk-in cooler performance evaluation (AHRI 1250) and require no direct frost mass or volume measurement. For this purpose, the frost magnitude is examined against the measured mass of frost by using a secondary box and metered moisture injection. The repeatability of each approach is assessed under different humidity levels and with different system configurations, including capacity level, evaporator fin density, and number of evaporator rows (evaporator depth).
