Résumé

In this paper, the Homogeneous Relaxation Model (HRM) for two-phase flow is improved by a new relaxation time formula stemming from the semi-empirical formula for vaporization index in order to overcome the limitations of the original model on subcooled or two-phase water inlet condition. Steady one-dimensional model of CO2 two-phase choking flow through converging-diverging nozzle is presented. On account of the criteria of occurrence of the choking flow, Possible-Impossible Flow algorithm is coupled with a standard Runge-Kutta method in calculation procedure for the improved HRM system and Homogeneous Equilibrium Model (HEM) system to predict the critical mass flow rate. Comparing to the HEM, the improved HRM is clearly more consistent with the experimental data in terms of pressure distributions. And the analytical results indicate that there is the intimate connection between the pressure drop features and non-equilibrium phase transition mechanism.
