Résumé
In this paper a comparison of the predictions made by using the most popular models and correlations for capillary tube flow is presented. The models for capillary devices are divided into three typologies: experimental correlations, numerical models and physically based analytical models. The predictions of the models for the most common HFC refrigerants (HFC-134a, R407C and R410A) were analyzed in this work. It was demonstrated that, in general, these models tend to give similar predictions when the typical design conditions are considered (large liquid subcooled at the inlet of the capillary tube or low inlet quality of refrigerant). On the contrary, the use of these models far from the typical design conditions increases the spread of the predictions, especially if experimental correlations are used. This comparison makes it possible to select the best method to model capillary devices for simulating transients in refrigeration equipment.
