Résumé

Accumulation of snow on the bridge deck in winter and high temperature of the deck's surface due to solar radiation in summer cause great potential damage to people's safety and make huge damage to the bridge. In this paper, a novel ground-source heat pump based system of snow-melting in winter and bridge deck cooling in summer for bridge deck was presented. It was followed by the principle of bridge deck snow-melting by circulating hot liquid through hydronic heating pipes embedded in the bridge deck and a mathematical and physical model of the system was developed by using the law of energy conservation. The effects of the layout of embedded pipes on the distribution of temperature, heat flux on the surface, and required heating fluid temperature in given weather condition were presented and discussed. In addition, the impact of ambient on the required heat flux is discussed.
