Résumé

An alternate approach based on hierarchic modelling is proposed to simulate fluid and heat flow in heat exchangers. On the first level, direct simulations were performed for the geometry that is similar to a segment of the heat sink examined. Based on the results obtained, the Reynolds number dependencies of the scaling factors were calculated. On the second level, an integral model of the whole heat sink was developed using the volume averaging technique. The averaging of the transport equations leads to a closure problem. Good agreement between the modelling results and the experimental data was reached with the same discrepancies as in the transitional regime. The computational algorithm developed offers possibilities for geometrical improvements and optimization, to achieve higher thermal effectiveness.
